Location

Orthopaedic Outpatient Department

  • Number 30, B wing, upper ground floor.
  • Timings: 8:30am – 1:00 pm
  • Number of patients treated in OPD: Average 200 patients per day.

Wards

Fifth floor, Male Orthopaedic Ward 45 beds, Female Orthopaedic Ward 45 beds.

Operation Theatres

  • Two fully equipped elective operation theatres with laminar air flow located on the third floor.
  • A dedicated orthopaedic trauma operation table on the upper ground floor.
  • Operative work: 2 elective Operation tables daily with average of 4-6 cases per day.
  • Emergency operative work: 2-3 operations per day (average).

The Orthopaedic department manages:

  • Congenital Anomalies
  • Developmental anomalies
  • Metabolic disorders
  • Trauma, including complex trauma and pelvi acetabular injuries
  • Sports injuries, Arthroscopic procedures
  • Degenerative conditions, Arthroplasty.
  • Spine conditions: Trauma, tuberculosis, deformity correction and degenerative.
  • Tumours.

Teaching

The Orthopaedic department has started with post graduate students for D.Orth courses and then
Diplomate National Board students.
From the academic year 2021 – 2022, the Department has received permission from the National
Medical Commission for the intake of four postgraduate students.
The department has a full fledged teaching program for post graduate students with lectures,
tutorials, journal clubs, seminars, and most importantly hands on training possible due to the huge
influx of patients to the hospital.
The department is also committed to implementing the new NMC Competency Based Training for
its newly inducted MS students.
The institute has an intake of 200 undergraduate students for which the department conducts
didactic teaching along with ward training, following the competency based teaching guidelines.
We also have a nursing college affiliated to this institute for which the department conducts a
teaching program.
