  2. MYCOLOGY:
    • Microscopy :
      • KOH for fungus (yeast & mould)
      • India ink preparation     Fungal culture
    • MYCOBACTERIOLOGY:
    • Microscopy :
    • Fluorescent microscopy for Mycobacterial tuberculosis (sputum samples, under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme)
    • Ziehl Neelsen Stain with 25 % H2SO4 for Mycobacterial tuberculosis (extra pulmonary samples)
    • Ziehl Neelsen Stain with 5 % H2SO4 for Mycobacterial leprae
    • CBNAAT (Gene Xpert)
    • Under National Tuberculosis Elimination Programme (NTEP), as per MOU samples are accepted & sent to P.D. Hinduja Hospital for following test:
      • TB Liquid culture by MGIT (Mycobacterial Growth Indicator Tube)
      • Line probe Assay (LPA) (for first & second line anti – Tb drugs)

  6. HIV (Integrated Counselling & Testing Centre under Mumbai District AIDS Control Society)
    • Test for HIV antibody test
  7. VIROLOGY (COVID):
    • Rapid test for SARS CoV2 Antigen
    • Truenat test for SARS CoV2
    • CBNAAT (Gene Xpert) for SARS CoV2
  8. HOSPITAL INFECTION CONTROL:
    • Surface Swabs from Operation theatres, ICU’s for bacterial & fungal culture
    • Samples from Blood banks for sterility check
  9. SAMPLES ACCEPTED IN MICROBIOLOGY LABORATORY & SENT TO KASTURBA MOLECULAR DIAGNOSTIC LABORATORY (attached to all M.C.G.M. hospitals)
    • RT PCR for SARS CoV2 (COVID)

    • RT PCR for Dengue
    • RT PCR for H1N1
    • RT PCR for Chikungunya
    • RT PCR for HIV (Dried Blood Spot & Whole blood specimen)
