About the Department:

The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology offers comprehensive women’s health care. Encompassing safe confinement, emergency obstetric services, high risk obstetric services, family planning, and safe abortion services, screening for genital cancers, elective gynecology and endoscopy services. Also promoting breastfeeding practices and menstrual health and hygiene. The Department of Obstetrics & Gynecology caters to around 17,000 outpatient antenatal patients and 3500 to 4000 deliveries per year. And around 12,000 outpatient gynecology patients with more than 1000 major surgeries done in a year.

Vision :

  • to have a full-fledged work force to cater to the increasing workload handled by our hospital.
  • to be at par with the other four Medical colleges in providing quality and highly specialized care
  • to have very low maternal mortalities comparable to international standards.
  • Our academic goals are:
  • To start post graduate MS courses in OBGY
  • To start Refresher / Fellowship courses
  • Develop Centre of Excellence for ART (assisted reproductive technology)
  • To conduct research studies in our department
