Dr. R. N. Cooper Medical College and General Hospital is a major peripheral hospital in the western suburbs, established in 1969, and located at Andheri, Vile Parle (West), Mumbai. It is the only medical college in the western suburban area of Mumbai. The hospital is strategically situated in an area where there was no tertiary care hospital under the Municipal Corporation in the western suburbs.

The hospital began as a Maternity Home in 1969 and was upgraded to a General Hospital in 1970. Since 1977, it has been recognized as a Teaching Hospital, affiliated with KEM Hospital. In 2006, the Municipal Corporation of Greater Mumbai (MCGM) decided to redevelop the hospital, and redevelopment work commenced in 2009. The newly redeveloped Cooper Hospital was inaugurated on 30 November 2013.

Today, the hospital is a 697-bedded secondary care hospital offering all major general specialties. It has been accredited by the National Board of Examinations (NBE) since 2007 for training residents in DNB programs across nine general specialties.

The School of Nursing, established in 1979, is approved for an annual intake of 1200 MBBS students. The hospital also provides practical training in Medical Laboratory Technology, Nursing, and observership programs across various medical specialties.

The Directorate of Medical Education and Research (DMER), Maharashtra, granted the Essentiality Certificate, based on which the Maharashtra University of Health Sciences (MUHS), Nashik, and the Medical Council of India (MCI) granted affiliation to establish the Medical College with an intake capacity of 1200 MBBS students.

In 2015, the institute received the Letter of Permission (LOP) from the Medical Council of India, and the first batch of M.B.B.S. students was admitted.
