Patient Care:-
Each year role plays and talks are conducted, posters are displayed by the department on the occasion of world mental health day to promote mental health awareness amongst patients.
Daily exercise sessions and weekly yoga sessions are conducted for inpatients of psychiatry in the psychiatry ward.
Counselling sessions for relatives of patients with disability are conducted regularly in the outpatient psychiatry department using the help of psychiatry social workers.
Disability assessment services are provided daily for patients with disability.
Occupational therapy and OT fitness assessment for patients, play therapy when indicated for children.
Academic Activities: UG and PG:-
The department offers DNB Psychiatry course for PG training in Psychiatry with intake of two candidates (1 primary and one secondary candidate) every year.
UG training in psychiatry is provided by the department by way of regular lectures, role plays, psychiatry movie clubs and having small group discussions during rotational clinical postings of MBBS students.
Regular workshops, orientation programs and seminars are conducted by the department for sensitizing UG & PG students on topics such as communication skills, stress management, interpersonal relationships in healthcare, resilience building etc. In addition, the department liaisons with other clinical departments such as medicine,surgery, paediatrics and community medicine in giving talks on topics related to mental health.
