Dr. R. N. Cooper Medical College and General Hospital is major peripheral hospital in western suburbs established in 1969 located at andheri, vileparle (west) and the only medical college in western suburban area of Mumbai. This hospital is situated at strategic location where there is no tertiary care Hospital of municipal cooperation in western suburbs.

Hospital started as a Maternity Home in 1969 which was upgraded to General Hospital in 1970. Since 1977, it was recognized as Teaching Hospital, affiliated to KEM Hospital. In 2006, MCGM decided to redevelop it and accordingly redevelopment work has started in 2009. The new redeveloped Cooper hospital was inaugurated on 30/11/2013. It is 636 bedded secondary care hospital with all general specialities. Hospital accredited by national board of examinations for training residents for DNB in nine general specialities since 2007. School of nursing was established in 1979 and approved for yearly intake of 30 students. Hospital also imparts practical training in medical laboratory technology, nursing and observerships in different specialities.

Directorate of Medical Education and Research Maharashtra has granted essentiality certificate based on which Maharashtra University Of Health Sciences , Nashik & MCI granted affiliation certificate to start Medical College with intake capacity of 150 students.
In 2015 our institute received letter of permission (LOP) from Medical council of India and first batch of M.B.B.S. is admitted. In 2016 our institute received letter of first renewal (LOP) from Medical council of India.
