About the Department:

The Department of Ophthalmology at Dr. R.N Cooper Hospital and HBTMC is a leading tertiary eye care and academic centre. The department provides comprehensive outpatient, inpatient, emergency, trauma, and surgical ophthalmic services. Approximately 150 patients are examined daily in the OPD, and 10–15 ocular surgeries, including cataract, anterior segment, and vitreoretinal procedures, are performed every day. The department is equipped with modern operation theatres and is actively involved in undergraduate and postgraduate teaching, clinical research, and training in advanced microsurgical techniques, including phacoemulsification. It is committed to providing high-quality, affordable eye care while promoting excellence in education and research.

It aims to provide comprehensive eye care, including diagnosis, treatment, and management of eye conditions and diseases, while also contributing to the advancement of ophthalmology through research and training programs.
